Toyota recently launched the Fortuner GR Sport model in India at ₹48.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the sportier-looking variant of the popular SUV and is a replacement of the Fortuner TRD model that was launched here in 2020 and was available in limited numbers. The GR Sport draws its name from Gazoo Racing (Toyota's racing and high-performance division) and features a raft of cosmetic tweaks along with some functional changes. The Fortuner GR Sport is based on the Fortuner Legender variant but commands a premium of around ₹3.67 lakh. But how different is the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport as compared to the Fortuner Legender? Let's try to find that out. Toyota Fortuner GR Sport has the same design as the regular Toyota Legender but gets a bi-tone radiator grille, redesigned front bumper, GR badging, and 18-inch black alloy wheels. The GR-Sport model also has a black front skid plate, body-coloured trim between the tail lights and red brake callipers with the GR logo. Though subtle, all these changes make the Fortuner GR Sport appear slightly sportier than the Legender. Toyota Fortuner GR Sport and Legender have the same interior layout but the GR-S model has GR inscription on the headrests, black leather and suede seats with red stitching, metallic smoke silver finish accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel with GR badge, and GR graphics for the multi-information display. The Fortuner GR Sport has the same features as the regular Legender. These include an eight-inch touchscreen, connected car technology, smartphone connectivity, a 4.2-inch multi-information display (MID), wireless phone charging pad, kick-activated boot opening system, cruise control, three driving modes, dual-zone AC, JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, and more. The list of safety features on both the SUVs includes seven airbags, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, traction control system, hill-assist control, reversing camera, etc. Both Toyota Fortuner GR Sport and Fortuner Legender come with the 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This powerplant puts out 201 bhp with 500 Nm of peak torque when coupled to a six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. But while the Fortuner Legender comes with a choice between 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrains, the Fortuner GR Sport only comes with the 4X4 drivetrain as standard. Lastly, the Toyota Legender's price in India ranges between ₹40.91 lakh and ₹44.63 lakh while the Fortuner GR Sport will set you back by ₹48.3 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
